Deerfield Beach, What's Up with the Special Election???

This is a copy of email correspondence between myself and the City Clerks office, when I was trying to obtain information regarding the upcoming Special Election in District 2 within the next 45-75 days.  We want to ensure that District 2 has its say in who represents us on Dais.

We don't want any shenanigans that may obstruct, prevent, or even delay our right to the democratic process of "No legislation without representation".

Now don't get me wrong, I understand that these things take time to plan, but we do want to make sure that no unnecessary delays are created, intentionally or unintentionally, that would prevent District 2 from having elected representation on the Dais in the City of Deerfield Beach.

Maybe, I phrased the correspondence incorrectly.

Supervisor Snipe, had already advised me of this in marigold/sunflower.

What I wanted her to correct is in blue.

The reasoning is in black.

I am not saying that the Clerk's Office is incompetent, [Our Clerk's office is filled with highly intelligent individuals who everyday competently help me and many others with our request, questions, concerns, and any other issues] because that couldn't be further from the truth.  All, I wanted is to ensure that the correct information is giving out.  Per the information that you provided.  The City itself decides a date and then basically confirms said date with the SOE.  So the SOE is only approving the date that the City selected.  This information needs to be accurately conveyed to the resident's and any other person's (such as news media) so that no one misunderstands who came up with the actual date for this election.  Now, if for some reason the date that the City chose is unfeasible for the SOE, a clear and concise explanation needs to be given so that everyone involved knows exactly why this date was chosen and by whom.  Just to avoid the appearance of impropriety on behalf of the local government.

thanks,

Dear Supervisor Snipes,

I am writing in regard to our telephone conversation where you indicated that the City of Deerfield Beach's Management staff would be determining the date of the Special Election and then collaborating with your office after verifying their duties per the City Charter.  You indicated that your office will supply the poll workers and such, but the City CLerk's office will handle this just like a regular municipal election.  The City Clerks office handles the election date and schematics of the actual election.

I contacted the City Clerk's office and they indicated that as far as they know.  Your office will be handling the date, etc... Can you please confirm this information with the city as to avoid any miscommunications.  Now I did not speak with Ada, City Clerk, because she was busy with a City matter, but I did get the impression that something was going on over at City Hall in regard to this Special Election.

The residents of District 2 would like to have an elected representative as soon as possible and we do not want to be saddled with an appointee for longer than statutorily possible.  We also do no twant to draw this thing out.  Any help that you and you r office can provide in seeing that District 2 has their fair election would be great.

Thank You.

David Cody
