Deerfield Beach's own "Only in America" No Peace No Justice

Santiago Cabrera (19) in 2009 he admitted to a crime and was immediately arrested, he did not pass go, he sat in jail until he was convicted in 2010 and sentenced to 5 years...His Victim was a horse.

David Calderilla Alcocer (20) admitted to hitting, killing, and then running away from the scene of an crash that resulted in the death of Thetus Fleming Jr. (22) (Lil Thet).  A month later and he has yet to be arrested in Broward County in connection with this crime...his victim a human being.

Only in America...

Trying to Bring Lights to "No Justice, No Peace" Here in the City of Deerfield Beach...

Since October 2011 the City of Deerfield Beach and FDOT have respectively been petitioned to install pedestrian/bicyclist/motorist safety precautions at the intersection of Hillsboro Blvd and Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd (MLK), which is located in the minority section of the City (District 2).

The City has denied request indicating that (1) it's to expensive and they may look into in the future, (2) it is not their responsibility because it falls under the jurisdiction of FDOT.

*Please note:  On the same highway, Hillsboro Blvd, in the more affluent section of Deerfield Beach (District 1) at Federal Highway  there are 8, count them 8 street lights/lamps.  Four (4) courtesy of FDOT and four (4) courtesy of the City of Deerfield Beach's own CRA...

FDOT originally approved "citizen" request to install the yellow truncated domes at the intersection, but through City of Deerfield Beach interference, namely Charles Debrusco-Director of Public Works, FDOT re-nigged on their original approval.  Subsequent citizen request were submitted to FDOT to install street lights, which they temporarily denied, indicating that they will look into it no sooner than November of 2012 for work to be done in 2015.  Another request was submitted for East/West turning signals off of MLK, which was originally denied citing statistical deficiency, so installation not warranted, they have recently decided to perform an on-site observational study to determine if the turning signal installation is warranted.

This video, which can be viewed here, demonstrates the dark conditions at the intersection of MLK and Hillsboro driving South to North on MLK, which could have been one of the causal factors in the hit and run death of Thetus Fleming Jr (22 black male) on 2/17/12, which received 0 media coverage. The driver, David Calderilla Alcocer (20 white male), who was driving on a suspended license, had warrants for his arrest, pending Broward County Court traffic court case from 2008, and who intentionally left the scene of an accident (a felony in FL-1st degree felony if the accident resulted in a death, like in this case).  He did later return to give BSO a statement (from the initial police report and BSO media release he returned about thirty minutes later).

However, David Calderilla Alcocer was never arrested by BSO to face charges for hitting and then leaving the scene of the accident resulting in a death (a first degree felony in FL), the death of Thetus Fleming Jr.

His family is looking for justice and would like FDOT and the City of Deerfield Beach to install those safety measures at that intersection so no other family has to go through the tragedy that they are going through.

Like Trayvon Martin's family and the country at large Thetus Fleming Jr.'s family is calling for "No Justice, No Peace" here in Deerfield Beach!

"No Justice, No Peace" march Today March 23, 2012 at 6pm on Hillsboro and MLK

Today will be the day that this blogger, again, steps out from behind this laptop keyboard and take to the streets.

If you have been following this blog then you know about the situation with Thetus Fleming Jr. (Lil Thet) who was killed by a hit and run driver, David Calderilla Alcocer, on 2/17/12.

You may not know because there has been no coverage what so ever of this event is Trayvon Martin..Thetus Fleming Jr.'s "white" killer remains free and has not been held accountable for his actions that resulted in the death of Lil Thet.

BSO is still investigating...

However, it is a first degree felony to leave the scene of an accident that results in a death.  There is no question that David Calderilla left the scene..went home took a shower, and then came back to the scene in a different vehicle.  There is no investigation needed to determine that this was done...and yet he remains free...out on the streets to live his life, while Lil Thet is 6 feet under...WTF!!!

Everybody is screaming and all riled up over at George Zimmerman down in Sanford screaming "No Justice, No Peace", while right here in their own backyards...we have "No Justice, No Peace" and everyone is sitting around...talking about "what is the family doing?"

You know what they are doing, they are doing the best they can with this horrible situation.

We as a community, can you call even us that or are we just a group of people that just so happen to live in dwellings near each other in the same geographical area, do nothing...

Well, I will be out on Hillsboro and MLK today March 23, 2012 at 6pm...I will march alone if I have to...but I hope this geographical area comes together as a community and show support and help to bring justice back to Deerfield Beach and help ensure that David Calderilla Alcocer, like George Zimmerman, is held accountable for his actions in the death of an innocent young black male from Deerfield Beach.

Come march with me...

Today, March 23, 2012
on Hillsboro and MLK in Deerfield Beach
"No Justice, No Peace" in Deerfield Beach

March to help ensure David Calderilla Alcocer is brought to justice for his role in the death of Thetus Fleming Jr.  who he killed and left dying/dead in the middle of Hillsboro like some animal.

No Peace, No Justice was in Deerfield Beach Before it Hit Sanford.

I know everyone is on Trayvon kick right now, but did you know that right here in Deerfield Beach..the "white" killer of a young black man remains free, never arrested, never charged, and never held accountable for killing a young black male. This happened over a month ago on 2/17/12 at Hillsboro Blvd and Martin Luther King Blvd in Deerfield Beach...Thetus Fleming Jr. (22) was killed in a hit and run crash..the driver David Calderilla Alcocer (20) left the scene went home took a shower and returned in another vehicle...and he was never arrested, drug tested or alcohol level tested...he was also driving on a suspended license and had pending traffic cases from 2008 and should not have been behind the wheel of a car and yet he is home "chillen" according to his Facebook page anyway, while Lil Thet is dead!

I understand the differences between Sanford's Trayvon Martin and Deerfield Beach's Thetus Fleming Jr...but I also see the many similarities...

The weaponed formed against them is different, but they are both dead none the same, while their "white" killers walk scott free with no charges and no arrest in their murders, both over a month later.

Well, you can help me spread the word...I do feel sorry bout Trayvon, but here in Deerfield Beach we got our own cause for "No Justice, No Peace"...just like Trayvon wanted his skittles and an iced tea..Lil Thet was going to get something from the gas station and never made it home...

So different and yet the same, but the police in both cases have bought our communities to shame, as they have allowed the killers to run loose and seem to refuse to place blame...

"No Peace, No Justice" was in Deerfield Beach before it reached Sanford.

You just didn't know because it never made the news!

Deerfield Beach's Own Positive Motivation Speaks to US A Spoken Word Truth!!!

Today, a friend of mine, Positive Motivation, was able to poetically put into words what many in my community feel.  It quite precisely sums up everything I feel and everything that is wrong with America, the Black community, and every other community because we are all guilty of being apathetic and not speaking up and demanding more from those who would lead us.  We are all guilty of not demanding more from ourselves and demanding fairness, justice, and equality for all of our brothers and in that way...we all will have those things fairness, justice, and equality because as we are looking out for our brothers our brothers are looking out for "U.S."

I love the fact that Facebook has ads for Sarah Palin...need I say more...LMAO

I wish America would look in the mirror and find the true terrorist. I believe in equality and that's why I raise my fist. Politicians and lobbyists have become this countries cyst. And for looking like this handcuffs can clutch my wrist. Being a young black male I feel I'm just a part of a list. When my numbers up, I wonder if will I even be missed? I can get shot in cold blood or while crossing the street get hit. And when an investigation needs to be done, cops will simply insist. That it's not their job or they're doing all they can do. We see it everyday, so don't think it can't happen to you. Just a few years ago my community use to be violent. I'd embrace that now cause it's better than being silent. We will rise to the occasion to be against on another. But we won't raise a finger to help our fellow brother. #Pissed

Deerfield Beach: Been a Month and Still Awaiting "NEWS" and Conclusion of Fatal Hit and Run Accident on Hillsboro and MLK (UPDATED)

This upcoming Friday (March 17, 2012) will make one month to the very day that Thetus Fleming Jr. (22) was killed at night by a hit and run crash while crossing at the corner of Hillsboro and MLK Blvd in Deerfield Beach by David Calderilla Alcocer (20), according to BSO THI Unit.

Florida law under statute
316.027 Crash involving death or personal injuries.(1)(a) The driver of any vehicle involved in a crash occurring on public or private property that results in injury of any person must immediately stop the vehicle at the scene of the crash, or as close thereto as possible, and must remain at the scene of the crash until he or she has fulfilled the requirements of s.316.062. Any person who willfully violates this paragraph commits a felony of the third degree, punishable as provided in s. 775.082, s. 775.083, or s. 775.084.(b) The driver of any vehicle involved in a crash occurring on public or private property that results in the death of any person must immediately stop the vehicle at the scene of the crash, or as close thereto as possible, and must remain at the scene of the crash until he or she has fulfilled the requirements of s.316.062. A person who is arrested for a violation of this paragraph and who has previously been convicted of a violation of this section, s. 316.061, s. 316.191, or s. 316.193, or a felony violation of s. 322.34, shall be held in custody until brought before the court for admittance to bail in accordance with chapter 903. Any person who willfully violates this paragraph commits a felony of the first degree, punishable as provided in s.775.082, s. 775.083, or s. 775.084. Any person who willfully commits such a violation while driving under the influence as set forth in s. 316.193(1) shall be sentenced to a mandatory minimum term of imprisonment of 2 years.
Taken from the Facebook page of David Calderilla Alcocer,
listed driver of the hit and run vehicle  that killed
Thetus Fleming Jr.
Yet, David Calderilla Alcocer has not yet been detained, arrested, or charged with any crime as related to this matter.   Less than a week later (Thursday, February 23, 2012) after killing someone he was on Facebook conversing with friends as if this tragedy had not even happened.

Which many people still don't know that a fatal pedestrian/motorist accident even occurred at Hillsboro and MLK Blvd on February 17, 2012, let alone the fact that it was a fatal hit and run crash and the driver has never been arrested or held accountable for breaking this Florida Law or one of the basic codes of human decency because instead of "stopping" and "remaining"  to see if the person he hit was ok or even alive he left his victim bloodied and dying in the middle of the road like some animal.  He didn't even care!!!

This chicken was shown more concern than
Thetus Fleming Jr. by David Calderilla Alcocer
The fact that the driver, David Calderilla-Alcocer, of the vehicle involved in the crash that resulted in the death of Thetus Fleming Jr. did not STOP and did not REMAIN at the scene of the crash should be enough to at the very least arrest him and charge him with breaking the "hit and run" law while BSO THI Unit continues their investigation, but no this guy is left to wonder the streets and go on with his life, as if he hadn't taken the life of someone else.

Maybe if, David Calderilla Alcocer, had done this and caused the deaths of 2 little white girls out on Powerline or a hispanic male on Sample and Military, or a little old white lady on Dixie and 48th Street then he would already be in jail, instead of home on Facebook "CHILLEN"...IJS
The above listed incidents are actual accidents that were actually found in the news within the last 4 months in Deerfield Beach, but are unrelated to the Thetus Fleming Jr. ongoing investigation, which only got one minomention in the online news a week after the incident, but did not make any of the printed news rags.
But hey what do I know, I am just a blogger...

Thetus Fleming Jr is just DEAD...

and his killer, David Calderilla, is home on Facebook, Chillen, bored as hell...

This just keeps getting worse and worse and could probably explain the hold-up with this investigation, but doesn't explain why David Calderilla-Alcocer has not been arrested and brought up on any formal charges yet.

As you can see our young friend, David Calderilla-Alcocer, is no stranger to traffic infractions having racked up 4 here back in November 16, 2011, just one (1) day shy of three months prior to him getting into another traffic incident that resulted in the death of Thetus Fleming Jr. on 2/17/12.

Please notice that the above case is still pending/open as of March 15, 2012, as it's still listed on the clerks website as such.

Not to mention this little beauty from back in April 2009, which was apparently "disposed" of by the Court.

That means the Judge threw the case out.

And here we go again back in 2008, which would make him about 16 at the time of the offense, he has a pending/open case for having an open alcohol container and littering from a vehicle on a public highway.  Yet, he is still out driving and partying.

Kristin Jacobs: Good Government, Bad Elected Representatives at least for Deerfield Beach Black Community

I have received several responses about my previous post and people seem to think that I should contact the elected officials for the area, such as Kristin Jacobs, Alcee Hastings, Gwyn Clark etc...

Please Note: This section of Deerfield Beach is now represented by Chip LaMarca District 4 Broward County Commission.  Who I will email today.

Well, I did that back in December 2011 and still have not heard from them, so what does that tell you.

The sad truth is Gwyn actually still resides in District 2 Deerfield Beach and is a regular member at my grandmothers church, St. Mary's Episcopal, and yet she does nothing for the very people that embraced her when she arrived from Palm Beach County.

Kristin Jacobs is off talking about "Good Government" and restoring the peoples trust, when all she really does is ignore us and only helps those who can help her campaign and her political aspirations, a typical politician.  I am sure it won't be long before she too is listed with Broward's Corrupt Elite.

These people destroy my trust with every fallacious word out their respective mouths.  They have no concern for the people, unless you can fund their campaigns. They are to busy "playing politics" to care about the very people they have been sworn to protect.

The people like Thetus Fleming Jr (22) who was killed on February 17, 2012 at the corner of Hillsboro Blvd and Martin Luther King Blvd in Deerfield Beach by a hit and run driver David Calderilla Alcocer (20).

The BSO THI investigation is still pending.

I attached the copy of the email I sent to Ms. Jacobs and others back in December and got no response, which is the usual treatment I have received from Ms. Jacobs office over the last year.

 Good Morning,
Ms. Jacobs,  as one of your constituents in Deerfield Beach, I would like your help in helping to ensuve the safety of my fellow residents at the intersection of Hillsboro Blvd and Martin Luther King.
This intersection does not have any street lights illuminating the crosswalks and at night is very dark.  If not for the lights from three neighboring businesses there would be zero visibility there.
Now, I have been in talks with FDOT and they have recently decided to upgrade the "detectable warning surfaces" in that area and I had requested that they look into street lights and a turning signals coming north and south off of MLK.  Below in the string of emails, you will see the response from FDOT advising me that they won't even consider looking into lights at that intersection until Nov 2012, which is a year a way.  I don't think it unreasonable to ask for some kind of precautionary measure to be taken at that intersection to protect the lives of the residents of Deerfield Beach District 2 the Minority district and your constituents.
I have come to you for help before at the beginning of this year regarding our constitutional rights being violated by the City to no avail, but I am hoping against hope that you see the possible political gain in this and the possible fallout if there is a fatal nighttime crash at that intersection and will help us get the items we need at that intersection, so we can be safe.
Hillsboro Blvd and MLK is a highly traveled intersection by both motorist and pedestrians...and to not have these basic things there at all, is a little disconcerting.  Then to be told that we have to wait a whole year before this can even be addressed is a little to much to take.  Is our safety not important?  We didn't design the road, but we do use it and to ask for items clearly left off is not to unreasonable.  Hillsboro and Federal has lights, and I believe all down Hillsboro at major intersections have lights, unless the State and the County feel that Hillsboro and MLK, does not warrant these simple things.
Please note:  I have already gone to the City and the Commission with this and they basically told me that they can't do anything because it is not their jurisdiction.
Please help us!!!
David Cody
If for some reason this is "beyond your scope" or "not in your lane", please forward to someone who can help us.
As I read this email begging and pleading for them to intercede and help do something about this very dangerous intersection from back in December it almost seems prophetic.  Well, a young man is now dead at the very intersection that I warned them about back in December and they chose to do nothing, the City did nothing, the County did nothing, the State did nothing, and FDOT did nothing.  For thirty years this community has been fighting to get something done at that intersection and to no avail.

When will our voices be heard, when will one of these people give a damn about us and stop giving us lip service.  I know we can't afford to fund your campaigns, but we definitely can vote and I think a change is needed.

FDOT Tells Deerfield Beach Black Community "No Change", Despite Obvious Risk

I received the below email from FDOT today, one day after receiving an email asking me to resubmit my request for left turn signals at the intersection of Hillsboro and MLK Blvd in Deerfield Beach, the scene of the hit and run accident that took the life of 22 year old Thetus Fleming Jr.

BTW, three weeks later and this BSO Traffic Homicide case is still under investigation and the suspect listed on the police report 20 year old David Calderilla Alcocer has still not been arrested, charged, or anything else consistent with the taking of a human life.  WTF???

date: Wed, Mar 7, 2012 at 10:11 AM
subject: RE: Request for Turn Signal

Dear Mr. Cody,

We have finished our investigation of northbound and southbound left turn signal phasing change request at Hillsboro Boulevard and Martin Luther King, Jr./NW 3 Avenue and have determined not to make the requested change at this time. Traffic volumes of the left turning traffic and through traffic are relatively low and therefore does not meet the volume warrant criteria for the left arrow phase.  We also review the intersection crash history and found there is no crash pattern that suggests the need to install the left green arrow. If you have any questions, please contact me.

So after apparently "misplacing" (their words, not mine) the original case study from November for left turning signals at Hillsboro and MLK, FDOT after one day has concluded that the traffic volume at that intersection and the crash data does not warrant any changes at this time.

So District 2 is left defenseless and in harms way for another thirty years and we will probably face several more Thetus Fleming Jr. style deaths before anyone takes action in to make safer "our" community.

*Warning-below contains some heated racial remarks, if you are easily offended by others opinions on current race relations, please, please stop reading here.  If you think you can handle the truth, as I have come to realize it then proceed*

I am fed up with this, these Officials, and so-called process.  I bet if someone from Ganz's District 4 had made this request for Hillsboro Blvd and let's say N 45th Ave,River Glen area, (oops there is a turning signal there just for U-turns, U-turns I say, and FDOT and the City of Deerfield Beach wants us to believe that they have more traffic at Hillsboro and 45th Ave for U-turns to warrant a turn signal than Hillsboro and MLK, PALEASE!!!!)

Come-on I am finally starting to get it.  You would have us believe that it is not that way, but I am finding harder and harder to dose myself up not to see the truth that is blatantly slapping me in the face.  You all complain about the race card, but it would seem that Sylvia was right.  The actions of the City and those currently wielding the power demonstrate exactly what is going on here.

They shoved their Utility tax down our throat saying we didn't "pay our fair share", they took away the teen center, they took away our family homes on the Dixie corridor and have left it baron and a business wasteland, they've blacked out our news so we stay uninformed and un-engaged and all we are left with is a hand full of people who actually give a damn.  Then they complain that we don't get involved and we don't care and we are apathetic.

WTF do you expect.  The machine is not run to actually help the people or even take care of the people.

The machine is "nigga-rigged"!!! ( I can say it)

If anyone can help this District get the needed changes, please email me.  It is obvious that our elected official and his buddies up at City Hall could give two shites about us.  Hell, they didn't have one event during black history month, Redtails by Ben Preston in January and the Black Heritage Banquet at Westside Park was in March, which no City Official attended not even District 2 Commissioner Ben Preston found the time to attend an event honoring black heritage and he's supposedly black/African-American it's obvious.

Is this what they wanted, they get Sylvia Poitier out of the way so we are left with no one to fight for the black community.

For thirty years we have been fighting to get something done at that intersection.  I know many of you have even utilized it...I have seen your Jaguars, Maybachs, Mercedes, and Porsche's screeching down Eller Street towards MLK.  You know what I am talking about.  The black community of Deerfield Beach needs your help.

Any Pastor, Bishop, Reverend. Deacon, Prophet, or Prophetess in Deerfield Beach willing to step down from their pulpit and away from the collection plates long enough to help? Gwyn, Alcee, NAACP, Hell Chaz Stevens (You're an NAACP member) anybody HELP US!!!

I know many of you are now going to label me as the angry black boy..well you'd be wrong.  Cuz, now I am the Pissed off African-American Man.

No charges have been filed as the investigation continues. BSO THI detectives are looking for witnesses and ask that anyone with information about this fatality contact them at 954-321-4840.

BSO Case Number: DR12-02-2763

PIO Number: 12-2-18

Date: February 18, 2012

Time: 11:20 p.m. Jurisdiction: Deerfield Beach

Place of Occurrence: 200 block of West Hillsboro Blvd., Deerfield Beach
• Thetus Fleming, Jr. 22, 11/28/89, male, Deerfield Beach (DECEASED)

Laid to rest 2/25/12 in Deerfield Beach
• David Calderilla-Alcocer, 20, 6/6/91, male, Coconut Creek

The Broward Sheriff’s Office Traffic Homicide Unit is investigating the death of a pedestrian, killed last week in Deerfield Beach.

The fatal incident occurred at 11:20 pm in front of the Advance Auto Parts store at 286 W. Hillsboro Boulevard. The victim, Thetus Fleming, 22, was on foot, crossing Hillsboro from north to south, when he was struck by an eastbound 1999 Dodge pickup truck driven by David Calderilla-Alcocer, 20, of Coconut Creek.

After hitting the pedestrian with his truck, Calderilla-Alcocer drove off, leaving Fleming in the road. About 30 minutes later, Calderilla-Alcocer returned to the scene.

Fleming was transported to North Broward Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

The family and our community would like closure of this tragic event.

Deerfield Beach Black Community Still Waiting for Traffic Investigation Conclusion from BSO

It has been almost 2 weeks since 20 y/o David Calderilla Alcocer of Coconut Creek hit, killed, and ran away from the scene of the accident that tragically and needlessly claimed the life of 22 y/o Thetus Fleming Jr. on Friday, February 17, 2012 at about 11:20pm at Hillsboro and MLK Blvd in Deerfield Beach and still no charges have been filed against this young man and the case is still under investigation.

Deerfield Beach Chief Sudler has advised that the case is still under investigation and no charges have been filed yet, but it is being investigated by the best Traffic Homicide Unit in BSO and as of today, March 1, 2012,  it is still being investigated.

There has still been no real news coverage of the incident, almost like it has been "blacked-out"...

However, I have found out that David Calderilla-Alcocer is in jail, after he posted to his Facebook page that he was "home chillen" on Thursday a week after killing someone.

Unfortunately, it is in a Palm Beach County Jail on unrelated charges of "Failure to Appear", which he was arrested for on Saturday 2/25/12 at 2:40pm.

I posted to BSO Sheriff's Al Lamberti's Facebook page to inquire why David Calderilla was not even charged in Broward for this vehicular murder (at least in my mind and the minds of many in my community).  At the very least why he was not charged with the leaving the scene of an accident involving injury and /or death, which is a violation of Florida Statute 316.027, a first degree felony.

I get it, he came back thirty minutes later, but hypothetically say BSO put out an APB on his vehicle and he was found 20 minutes after the accident away from the scene would he still not be charged by BSO.

Why in the last week down in Miami a young Hispanic male committed a hit and run with a fatality against an elderly Hispanic woman and when he was caught he was immediately booked and charged.  Which can be read here.  (Surprisingly there was a media blitz of information on this hit and run???)

Yes Luis Castilla (the driver of the Miami hit and run) had outstanding warrants, but the fact remains that Miam-Dade County immediately charged him with the hit and run, vehicular homicide, and DUI from that crash...and that was within 4 days of the incident.

It has now been almost 2 weeks and still we have nothing on David Calderilla-Alcocer who killed Lil Thet in Deerfield Beach.  What is going on Al Lamberti???

Who by the way, the moderator of his Facebook page (because I would hope it was Al) reprimanded me for posting this question on his Campaign's Facebook page and not his personal or business page because it's "not campaign business".  WOW!!!
Hell, if it wasn't for PBCSO arresting the guy we wouldn't even have a mugshot because it would seem that he was not even booked or arrested in Broward County after killing someone...

What is going on here???

Can somebody, please explain it to me????
