Deerfield Beach Initial Budget Workshop: Come Out and See Where the City Will Spend the Revenue from the Newly Imposed 7 Pounds of Flesh Tax

I got the following from Gloria Battle, Candidate for District 2 City Commission.  Out of all the individuals that have filed for the seat so far, she is the only one who actually spoke up for the residents of District 2 last night.  Pastor Anthony Davis was there seating in the back with the Adam's Family.  Ben Preston was also there seating with Beulah Hill.  Both chose to remain silent on these issues and did not take on the leadership role.  I have expressed to both of them, in person, my views on this inaction and what it says to me. If you can't fight for us now, then we cannot trust you to fight for us on the DIAS.  Both have given many excuses as to why they remain silent.  Well, I know I am tired of excuses!  I am tired of people playing the "game of politics" with the lives of my family, friends, and neighbors.  We need to wake up and Gloria is right on the below subject we need to attend this meeting to ensure that our District gets what it needs when this Budget is being put together.  We have to help our Commissioner (well at this time we are on our own) and in doing so we help ourselves.  So please make plans to attend the meeting tonight and tell your friends.  If you have a group or organization in the City then you will want to be there.

Please note the following information. The hearings for the 2011-1012 budget begin tonight at 6:30. If you want to have and impact on the 2011 budget now is the time to begin voicing your opinion. Please distribute this information to as many people as possible. Just as many people who showed up last night should show up tonight. It is time for us to be pro-active instead of reactive.
